The 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 has been named ‘Sports Car of the Year’ by What Car? magazine in its annual Car of the Year Awards.
The mid-engine two-seater coupé adds an emotive flat-six boxer powertrain to the familiar Cayman credentials of dynamic agility and sleek styling.
By awarding the 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 the top prize for Sports Car of the Year, the writers at What Car? could not have been more emphatic in their praise for the nimble, two-door coupé. The judges remarked that “the Cayman is the best sports car on the planet, with its balletic cornering skills making rivals feel positively porky. But while all versions are great at going around bends, it's the GTS that you really want, because this swaps the four-cylinder engines of lesser versions for a glorious 4.0-litre flat six.”
The Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 emphasizes long-standing Porsche attributes of a characteristically emotive power delivery and a focused driving experience, with a manual six-speed transmission and sports exhaust system. It can achieve the sprint from 0- 62 mph in 4.5 seconds, and where permitted accelerate on to a top speed of 182 mph. The rarefied combination of two seats, three pedals and six cylinders makes the GTS 4.0 a great companion for any journey.
